Project: THE CRISIS

I’ve always felt fascinated by how humans express their emotions , how they behave , interact and relate to each other. I try in some of my projects to work these issues . So it was with this in which I reflected a bit on a concept that sometimes serves us and others serves from us.

The word crisis is used to denote the missing of something important that may destabilize the individual or the group. Throughout life we experience moments that make us distinguish with greater clarity the essential from the accessory. But these episodes of crisis are quickly forgotten once the natural cycle of events comes to pull us up. The crisis is an essential element of any individual or community because it helps us understand the meaning and importance of people, situations and property, even if has an temporarily effect.
But are we taking advantage of the positive effects of a unavoidable situation for human beings? Culturally descended from a long line of gray matter that makes its crises. From the beginning of human society, at that moment were two human beings could communicate, we initiate a crisis of solidarity between groups who insist on dreaming in isolation and therefore are perpetuating a crisis of personal values with individuals unable to imagine and to intervene positively in the future of another. Ambition makes us pursue an imaginary line that divides us depending on the status and ownership in which those are supported by a monetary system and social a network  that we acquire blindly and that often dictates our directions or friendships. The man who has learned to survive in the group also learned the advantages of control it. The younger generations have always been encouraged to follow the path of the previous ones through educational systems  that never managed to find a balance between educating citizens able to survive and at the same time able to channel their energies to the common good. The same system that taught the value of democracy ignored the basic principles of human liberty. Right and wrong have always been a matter of perspective, rhetorical or convenience. The dominant values are being manipulated so that our crisis is lower than the one from the others. This artificial way of being in crisis makes our learning from it almost relatively null.
Given these crisis scenarios (collective and individual) one thing seems certain to me, we can only learn to live in and enjoy from what the crisis can offer. Think of it as the time preceding the ascendancy and makes us better human beings. The balance that makes the good times being lived more intense and supportive. The two forces that complement each other. I think we subconsciously know this aspect of the crisis and at times we seek the right dose of that  regenerator feeling. Sometimes we have to shuffle the cards and give back hoping that the next game is more favorable.
This project portraits a set of stories where the crisis is represented in its various dimensions and at it individual and collective aspects.

The previous image was the first that came to my mind in the context of this project since whatever the nature of the crisis it always fulfills the function of destabilizing thoughts. When I think of the word crisis occur to me every moment of our lives we have entered a sort of pause indefinitely in which we circulate in an endless spiral.
Sometimes we follow a set of paths that when intersected it create episodes that settle in our thought in a harrowing way and of which we can not get free. Sometimes these moments come uninvited. It is natural that somewhere in the walk we plunge in this vast emptiness that consumes us the soul and does not let us move. Find the path is the main challenge. Get strong with the experience is an added value.
