Some argue that the creative process is the outcome of the survey and the resolution of pre-existing problems and therefore is an exercise of analysis and synthesis. However it seems to me that this would equate it to the concept of imaginary (already addressed in a previous post). Personally I think they are different but complementary in the creative process. If the imaginary is the result of a set of socio- cultural interactions, creativity requires an intentionality in which we necessary need to follow a set of steps.
In project photography where there is a selection of the topic to be discussed is necessary to conduct a research where we identify a set of information that will then be the target of a reflection phase which is known as incubation. At this stage the unconscious joins the new information and mix it with our social and cultural experiences at the imaginary level. It follows the phase of reverie where we filter all the ideas that come out of the unconscious and retain those that actually serve our expectations.
Not being a consensual definition, the creative process seems to follow this set of procedures on which our work is based. It is a method that can bring in consistent results.
