Staying on the surface in a world where opportunities are scarce and competition is fierce has been a task that tends to clash with altruistic practices. Putting our route on hold and help carry the problems of others is something unusual in a society where the time to reach the multitude objectives established is reduced. But being supportive and kind and put the problems of the other on the level of our is not the most successful strategy? Help the other means to strengthen the group and therefore is always a plus on a personal level. Let us be a source of inspiration, dedicating some of our scarce time to group solidarity in our day to day so we can be surrounded by positive energy.

We all know that light is to photography as the heart is to the human body. Knowing the specific types of light and dominate the lighting process is complex and it took me a long time to acquire.
Determine the type of lighting we need is something that can only happen when we set the branch of photography that we will devote. In my first years on this adventure I didn’t knewwhat kind of photography I would embrace so I tried almost every type of lighting which was quite advantageous. Now I look backwards and I know I could have simplified this process but never had the right tips and internet is full of conflicting opinions and all of them with good arguments. I tried many different types of light until I get to my current lighting kit. I hope to help even one person not making some of the mistakes I made.
I often justify this or that situation using the immensity of popular sayings that are sufficiently comprehensive and diversified so that, with only these , we maintain a medium content conversation. ” We reap what we sow ” seems to me to be the most suited to the crisis that I wanted to see represented in this image. Its a saying that I particularly like and try to take into account every day regarding my habits and attitudes .
Be ecological is today seen as one of the supreme state of evolution and can not sympathize with social fads or with momentary companies advertisements.
Despite I am absolutely in favor of the difference regarding to behaviors and opinions and believe in a profound way that only in that way we can evolve as a species, I also believe that there are certain values that do not give room for such differences. This image represents one of those realities .
By my life experience I can say that we fight harder for a greater cause when we are properly conducted and when we feel the support of a cohesive group. The crisis we are experiencing at an environmental level has a worthy adversary. What to do when the green colour of money fight against the green of nature? The group’s capital is much more united and its strongly motivated. If we can not destroy it by the groups fight we have to try it in a individually level through a very small set of steps that everyone can take daily in terms of habits and consumption. Let us try to do it a certain way so that our children do not reap what we are planting .

There is a time to fight and a time to stop. Never get to the second one without exhausting the first.
This image depicts my idea of the crisis of a society that is losing the concept of community sacrifice and extend this loss to marriage strand. We get bored, depressed or even discouraged when the challenge is to live and overcome the differences we have with each other. Accept the contradictions and oppositions in order to integrate them without eliminating any of them is a difficult challenge but to take into account when we live and plan a life together. Managing conflicts and forgiving are two fundamental exercises in everyday life and not compatible with a demand for immediate happiness. It is so important to seek happiness as we realize that this is not a steady state in a couple’s life There are times to laugh and times to cry like in any other dimension of social interaction.
“Till death do us part ” should not be a seal of unhappiness but also can not be an expression so empty of feeling and commitment like that we have witnessed in recent decades.
Know how to live in the difference because in it we can find the true path to happiness.
Having a bank of images was quite useful for the execution of this image. Shooting in RAW (in Canon case) and go storing random pictures of everyday life ends up being a very useful practice that I already use for years. What today seems a pointless subject tomorrow makes sense to supplement a picture. Normally I use my walking time for shooting natural scenery, skies and other elements. Of course that with this practice images keep accumulating and all that work could be unproductive if I didn’t cataloged each image. I use Picasa as image management program (there are other equally good and free) which allows me to search for them very quickly when I want to use it later. At the time of cataloging always use the key words that best describe the image to facilitate the search.
I always use two image backups that I put in separate locations to guard against any situation caused by natural or human phenomena.
This is my method but I know several photographers who have different storage methods and work equally well.
In this image I went to the bank of images to find a background that could help me make sense of the idea of someone being socially imprisoned and losing the sense of direction.
The image to the concept of social crisis was not initially thought this way. But that topic is for another post. Again, and as already mentioned in the last post, image making always starts some time before with the creation of the concept, the planning and the execution of a series of tasks.
Let’s see the final image and its creation process. This was incredibly easy to make.
Lets go step by step
I started to get an image to the bank of images (Image 1):
Then I photographed the model in a background that I tought it could be easier to do the transition to the circule layer. I used the natural light backed by 2 flashes based on two tripods.
First I used the clone tool to clean up the image from the holes and lines that dispersed our look for those points.
Then I used the command Edit> Transform> Perspective to reduce the inclination that the image had. Ran and resized the image and took one of the existing covers to make the connection between the locks and the platform. I deleted the other covers that did not matter:
Then I decided that the circle colors were not strong enought and I soaked the color a little more. Created new layers with a similar color. Reduced opacity to 20% and clipped to the shape of the circle star:
The next step was to place the model. I resized, and rotated the image. Used again the command Edit> Transform> Perspective to reduce the slope of the image and put it in symmetry with the circle. Then I removed the excesses of the image model to give the illusion that the two images were one. In this step you should be aware that the shadows of the model must be reflected on the ground (there are several tutorials that explain how to perform this task). We must also take care when we are erasing the excesses of the image model and we are reaching the desired point to create a smooth transition. Normally I reduce the opacity of the eraser gradually for color differences between layers going blurring. Finally I cut the currents excess. The image looks like this:
Finally I added several layers with different opacities in order to darken the corners of the image and give it a mystical look. One can use the indications of tutorials that teach create the fog effect for this step. The colors, the shape and opacity is at the discretion of each:
Thanks for passing by.
The magic of an image can be lost in the explanation of its creation . But the magic when we realize how easy it is to work with an editing program can give encouragement to venture in the world of creating images. I’m very lazy in respect to editing and was always one of the fields where I did not spent much time. So the ideia is if I can make it so can you. Accordingly I start today to share the technical part of the images I use to pass my ideas in order to demystify a little the image editing world. There are several ways to reach the same result, and this are just some suggestions.
My process of creating an image starts long before going into the field to photograph . The photograph itself is what takes less time and it is necessary to have everything well planned so that the process is not random and the results are satisfactory . The image serves the purpose of illustrating an idea so we must first know what is the message we want to give. I usually start thinking of a project theme which will result in a set of images . After that I divide the main theme into parts and each part has a message and an image. I use Evernote and a drawing program (Bamboo Paper) in which I write and draw the outlines of what may be the end result (everything always subject to adjustments during the process) . A notepad serves perfectly for this purpose . After that I find the space, arrange the clothes , accessories and models (if I need them of course). You should think about making images that fit within your budget and that are within reach of your technique (although I believe you can use those images to improve that technique). You should also always shoot in RAW.
The editing program I chose from the beginning was Photoshop. I did it because it is intuitive and full of tutorials that help me everytime I want a result and do not know how to get there .
I’ll start with a picture of my latest project. This was one of the images that gave me most pleasure in creating and the result was exactly as I had initially imagined .
This is the final image ( 100cmx100cm 300dpi ):
Now let’s go step by step.
We started by creating the background image from three different images. They are images with very different tones so in general , but this one in particular , it is necessary to make a smooth transition between layers so that the image does not look artificial.
Then cut the pontoon of the image 1 and put it on top of the layer of image 2 and crop your image 2 to create a perfect horizon line. Then put the image 3 beneath the layer of the image 2. We have the following result (in this step we darkened the layers and give the desired tonalities):
Then just duplicate the layer 3 (sky) to create the idea of ??reflection in the water . In this case we reduce the opacity of the new layer to 50% and use the Edit> Free Transform to extended it on the water. We take this effect and let the it on the pontoon to create a smoother transition of layers .
Then cut out the model (in this case was me due to the low budget), resized and put in the picture. As you can see you can do the image almost anywhere. we must take care that the background colors are not identical to the model so that it can cut easily (I did not choose the best place).
By placing the model in the image we darkened so that the light in the model coincides with the light from the final image.
Then cut out the various umbrellas .
In this case, I used the magnetic lasso tool but you may do it in any other way. I then do the same with several pictures at different angles and resized to give the idea of ??perspective in the image. In this case I also put an umbrella in the model’s hand. I darkened or brightened each of the umbrellas to give a more realistic effect . The image looks like this:
Then I duplicated the layer of the pontoon and deleted everything except the rocks at the foot of the model since as we can see in the picture above the transition between layers was not smooth.
And finally added a completely dark layer on top of the image. Reduce the opacity to 60% and created a layer mask to this new layer working background and foreground in order to get this dark effect .
Final tip :
Over time I realized that the images of my monitor (MacBook Pro) do not match with the others. Normally I test my image on two different monitors and change the image vibration of colors and sometimes the shadows and highlights until I get satisfactory results .
I hope this mixed of tutorial with making off has been encouraging.
Contact for any question or suggestion .
Be different and think differently sometimes means not fit into the social. And when our social being bumps with our view of things? To what extent the group endangers our happiness? How far are we willing to compromise our principles by? Everyone seems to want to grab and hold a little of your being. When someone tries to steal your individual freedom and submit it to collective imprisonment don’t be afraid to break the chains.
